Ingredients

  • 1 cup oat milk barista style is amazing
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon - ground
  • 2 teaspoon demerara sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 espresso coffee shot increase amount to two shots if desired. Or use a heaped teaspoon of your favourite everyday granulated coffee.

Equipment

  • saucepan or microwavable jug, whisk to froth the milk, spoons and mug to serve

Method

  1. Heat the oat milk along with the spices (ginger and cinnamon) and sugar in a saucepan until it is is steaming. If using the microwave, add these ingredients to a suitable jug and heat until the milk is hot.
  2. Make your coffee either instant or espresso, whichever you usually have. You may want it a little stronger than you'd normally have it.
  3. Once the milk has been heated, froth it up using either a whisk or a 'milk frother'. This won't take very long. Add the vanilla to the milk and stir to combine.
  4. Pour the coffee into your favourite mug and top if off with the frothed milk.
  5. Optional but very nice - finish it off with some 'squirty' cream or whipping cream for some extra awesomeness.
  6. Sprinkle the top with ground cinnamon or grated chocolate and enjoy.

Make this vegan - To make this latte vegan, use plant based milks that are suitable for use with coffee and don't split. (I use Oatly in coffee, it works really well and the flavour isn't over powering.) There are also vegan creams that are suitable to use to finish off the latte with.
Make this dairy-free - Use a non-dairy milk that is suitable for use with coffee and non-dairy cream if you wish to make you latte special. These are fairly easy to find these days, usually stored close to the dairy section.
