Ingredients
 
 

  • 14 ounces plum tomatoes substitue chopped tinned tomatoes if you can't find Italian plum tomatoes
  • 1 garlic cloves Use more to suit your personal taste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • salt and pepper

Equipment

  • 1 jug or use a bowl
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 set of measuring spoons
  • immersion blender optional
  • blender optional

Method
 

  1. Measure everything into a bowl and use your immersion blender to blend it until it is smooth. It only takes a few seconds.
  2. Taste a little of the sauce to make sure that it is well seasoned.
  3. Store in a suitable container in the fridge until needed.

Alternative herbs and spices: You can substitute basil, thyme or marjoram for the oregano if you prefer. This sauce is also good if you add a few chilli flakes for a little heat.
